An HTTP proxy, through the CONNECT method (RFC 9110 section 9.3.6).

Socks4 = 1

SOCKS 4, or 4a when the destination is a host name (resolved by the proxy).

Socks5 = 2

SOCKS 5 (RFC 1928), with username and password authentication (RFC 1929) when credentials are given.
