When a block stores the user-key prefix all its keys share once, instead of at every restart point. Needs FormatVersion 8 or later.

Never.

Enabled = 2

With every comparator. Custom comparators get the smaller blocks but not the faster seek, and pay a little read CPU to rebuild full keys.

IfFastSeek = 1

Only where it also speeds up Seek, which is with the built-in bytewise or reverse-bytewise comparator. The default.

Remarks

Mirrored from BlockBasedTableOptions::OptimizeKeyCommonPrefix in include/rocksdb/table.h because the C API declares this parameter as a plain int.
